Came here before lunch and ordered the teriyaki steak hoagie and then the kangnam style hoagie to share with my friend.
The restaurant gave a very homey, warm feel that was comforting. Old Korean music in the background and the staff were very friendly and warm.
The teriyaki hoagie and kangnam style hoagie was really delicious. Not too salty, and cooked perfectly. It was perfect for a hot spring day with a cup of Diet Coke.
Kangnam style steak hoagie was a unique idea, a fusion of Korean and American sandwiches! It was really delicious.
Next time I come here I would want to also order a korean dish--as I saw that they sell bibimbap here! I would also order the kangnam hoagie again because it was delicious! Would definitely come back next time I am here in San Jose. -

This place has great steak sandwiches. The owners were so friendly and the steak sandwich was yummy!
I'm a huge chili fan and the chili tasted great. I also got a side of egg to go on top and it was surprisingly delicious.
My roomate ordered the kogi cheese steak and i stole a bite of hers for taste and the kogi was the right amount of flavor. -

I love this place! Been closed, though. Are they even open anymore. The whole building closed down..

BRUH haha wow where do I begin?
My first experience at Hoagie Steak Out (HSO) was in my first semester of college, in 2013. The experience was so mediocre that I opted not to write a review about it.
I went nearly the entirety of my undergraduate career without the temptation of trying it again, but alas, I gave in during my second-to-last semester.
It was a cold September night when I walked into HSO, hoping they would leave me with an experience I could remember. They did...
The place smelled overwhelmingly of weed, but I shrugged it off and walked up to the register to order. No one was there, but I heard music playing in the back so I called out, "Hello?"
Two guys come stumbling out, stoned af, one being the cook and the other attempting to take my order.
I ordered the bulgogi cheesesteak, which took an unreasonable amount of time to be made. 20 minutes? When no one else was waiting for food?
The dining area was sooo dirty, too. Trash and food crumbs everywhere. I watched the cashier as he talked to his friend while he cooked, and I felt the impending doom of an overpriced meal. The bulgogi special was $12 I believe? Even if it was $9, it still would have been overpriced for the quality.
I finally got my food, and walked home, in the cold, knowing that my food wouldn't be good.
I guess the only positive thing about this place was that I wasn't horribly surprised that the food wasn't good? Because I get home and take my first bite of the hoagie and knew that I wouldn't be finishing it...
I recently talked about this place to my current housemate, and she agrees that her experiences here were never positive either. I don't know if this place would be better if they hired new people, as the menu is just uninspired and the food is overpriced.
Honestly, I don't know how this place is still in business. -

Great stop for an early afternoon bite! No dedicated parking lot but Sunday's offer tons of free street parking in downtown San Jose.
Came in around 1pm, couple of people eating in but luckily arrived after the lunch rush so I got to avoid large lines.
Ordered the Chili Philly. The grilled onions in the sandwich added a nice touch to every bite. (Ask for the fries a little bit well done if you want the fries to have a nice crunch).
Hoagies have been consistent in their food for the past couple of years and overall, it's great for a quick bite.
